Football: Bosco beat Plaisance
St John Bosco edged Plaisance 3-2 at the Unity Stadium on Saturday.
Plaisance and Bosco battled it out at the Unity Stadium on Saturday.
These two teams were promoted last season to the top flight but are enduring contrasting fortunes as Plaisance are bottom of the league with seven defeats whilst Bosco registered their first win and now have five points as they look to maintain their status amongst the big boys.
On Saturday, Bosco stunned Plaisance from the opening minutes as Graham Cafrine set up Deroy Brutus to make it 1-0 with one minute 31 seconds on the clock of a match which kicked off at 4.20 p.m and the Point Larue based team never looked back as they threatened to rip apart a hapless Plaisance.
Bosco had numerous opportunities to add to the score but were wasteful in front of the goal whilst Plaisance were poor and even made two substitutions in the first half pulling off Gavin Domingue and Che Dorasamy as they tried to redress the balance but they never found their rhythm.
The second half started slowly but Randolph Elizabeth lit up the stadium with a well taken goal in the 66th minute as he latched onto a through ball for a 2-0 lead for Bosco and in the 80th minute, substitute Yves Zialor scored a brilliant individual goal as he skipped past goalie Alvin Michel to squeeze the ball into the net for a 3-0 advantage.
Plaisance fought back though as Andy Mougal reduced the arrears in the 85th minute for a 1-3 score and Tanzanian Hussein Bakari flicked a header into the net past goalie Duane Romain to make it 3-2 with the last kick of the match as Bosco registered their first victory to please coach Roger Labonte.
“We scored early which helped us but after going 3-0 up, we slackened but we are just pleased to win our first match,” the Bosco coach said.
As for the Plaisance coach Jeris Cesar, he was again disappointed with his players’ attitude in this match.
“We did not play according to our game plan and our trouble is that we are not training as a team and it has an effect on our performance,” coach Cesar revealed to TODAY Sports.
